Well, the tree trimmers arrived bright and bushy tailed at 8 a.m. Fortunately Tito moved my car for me so I didn’t have to bundle up. The sun’s out but hasn’t had enough time to take the heavy chill off the air.

For the better part of four hours they where up in the tree. Then one went and procured lunch so it’s all quiet at the moment. Here’s what’s happened so far:

In the tree, note guy’s feet and to right part of the dead branch cut in half.

The balancing act to get to more of the dead branch.

As I predicted, part of the branch came down breaking fence.

Fence breaker.

Fence breaker dragged off the sidewalk (photo taken through screen door).

Lunch time.

Lunch time.

I swear men are just giant little boys. As he came down about 30 feet in a not so safe homemade sling, his helper just watched grinning ear to ear. As he reached this branch (above) which was still a good ways off the ground he did a back flip, while smiling happily.

That has to be the way to work. To focus on the fun things in a job and not the drudgery. So it’s not just tree trimming, it’s “mountain” climbing and working with a chain saw. What’s not to like about that? This pair is so different that the regular gardeners who scowl the whole time they’re mowing and blowing. They never say hello, instead they frown and look angry the whole time. Attitude makes such a difference.
